The pastel-colored facades, the wrought iron balconies, the light changing from morning to sunset reflecting off historic buildings are the distinctive features of a city that surprises with his grace: Charleston. The work on The Cooper hotel left us with the memory of a relaxed yet refined elegance, capable of embodying the spirit of the South with naturalness and authenticity.
It’s from this atmosphere that we got the inspiration to extract a palette that reflected the city’s characteristic tones. Powder blue becomes the main color, a direct reference to the clear skies and the facades of the historic homes lining the streets of Charleston. Alongside this, warm beige carries a colonial echo, discreet and timeless, restoring balance and classicism.
Precisely this duality was the basis for the creation of the hotel uniforms: defined by clean lines and classic proportions and enriched by details that make each garment contemporary and functional. The light blue suit, made with lightweight and breathable fabrics, conveys freshness and sobriety; the beige tie adds a note of distinction, becoming an iconic element of the collection. Everything was studied to ensure operational comfort, but also to express that sophisticated allure characterizing The Cooper’s hospitality.
From the experience we had with this project we are left with the testimony of an informal elegance that is never willing to sacrifice refinement. A memory that unites Charleston’s tradition with contemporary design, transforming the uniforms into symbols of bespoke hospitality. With this work, Maurel aimed to preserve and convey the unique character of the South, making it wearable and recognizable in every gesture of The Cooper staff.
